The Frauental convent is in a side valley of the Tauber near Creglingen, not far from Rothenburg ob der Tauber, and was founded by Konrad and Gottfried of Hohenlohe - Brauneck (their fort , Burg Brauneck, is only 3km away) in the year 1232. In former times the convent had an area of roughly 600 hectares of agricultural land, woodland and grassy fields plus extra acquirements as time went by.

  • 1390: The family of Hohenlohe - Brauneck died out and was sold to the Earl of Brandenburg - Ansbach

  •

  • 1525: Vast parts of the convent and of the fort  were destroyed in the farmers rebellion. The stones were later used to build the historical shepherd's house. If you want to "live in history" you can rent it as a holiday house.

  •

  • 1547: After the death of the last three nuns, the village of Frauental became a dominion, and the upper church was used as storage space for wheat, rye, barley, etc.

  •

  • 1791: Frauental came under Prussian rain and achieved the status of independent village

  •

  • 1810: Frauental became part of the Kingdom of Württemberg

  •

  • 1972: Frauental became part of the Town of Creglingen. This meant the end of independence.
